Sonia Alejandra Rodriguez is an Associate Professor in the English Department at LaGuardia Community College, CUNY, where she teaches composition, literature, and creative writing.

She is the recipient of a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation 2020 Mellon Emerging Faculty Leaders Award.

She received her Ph.D. in English from the Department of English at the University of California, Riverside in 2015. Her research introduces “conocimiento narratives” as a way to read realist fiction within Latinx children’s and young adult literature. She is currently working on her monograph on this topic.

Sonia is also a creative writer. In her fiction writing, she centers the voices and experiences of marginalized voices.

LatinxKidLit on Instragram is space dedicated to highlighting Latinx children’s and young adult literature. Each post includes a picture of the book cover, a brief summary and review, and when relevant, links to outside sources that relate to the topic/theme of the book.
